Keep my graphics card, or buy a new one?

I've got the opportunity, where I can sell my Geforce 4Ti 4200 64MB for R1000 (approx. $100) and buy a new Gigabyte Radeon 9600XT 128MB for R1900 (approx. $190). Do you think I should take it, wait, or leave it? So far I've been able to run my games at 1600x1200 at a pretty decent frame rate, but I'm worried about HL2 and Doom3. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

What you are talking about is getting a Radeon 9600xt for a real cost to you of $90. You are asking if it's worth it? Try downloading performance test and running it. My 9600pro gives me a 3D score of 973.1. I think your 4200 will give scores in the 500 range. I would recomend sombody spend $90 to get your card. You want to know if it's worth it to double that score for the same price.

Here is the catch. You may have to format your drive to get the best performance out of the new card. I recomend that you do just that.

If you want strong HL2 or Doom3 performance, you would probably want a 9700pro, 9800pro, or 9800xt. If you wait a few months for those games to come out then those three cards will become a lot more affordable.
