large emails

I can receive, but not send, large emails such as with attachments. Even
emails 98 KB will not go through. The server times out no matter how long I
set if for...any ideas would be appreciated. My ISP is no help at all.

like a 1 line message?

do you have a virus checker checking your outgoing email? can you switch it
off?
