How much of a performance difference am I gonna see if I replace my current GF3 ti 200 64MB with a GF4 ti 4200 128MB? Would it be worth replacing the GF3 with the GF4??

Yes big difference, worth it, but you'd see a BIGGER difference with the Radeon 9600 PRO for a few bucks more.

If you're going to upgrade, you might as well upgrade to DirectX 9 while you're at it.

Geforce3 to Geforce4 is faster, that's it. 9600 PRO will give you a little longevity.

I am in a similar situation, but I'm going to hold out for the new cards later this spring.

I don't weant to spend the money on a 9600Pro right now. I can get the ti4200 for around $25 USD, thats why I am interested in it.

Thanks for the reply though.

Wao you must be very lucky if you can find a geforce 4 ti 4200 with such a low price.Buy it. (As i can understand it must be a second hand but that is not a problem,i suggest you before you take it to test if it works fine.)

Yeah, for $25 USD that's a no brainer.

You'll see a very nice difference in performance. :)

Thats alright...I figure its worth the extra to get the game. Plus, the other card I was looking at last night was the GF FX5600 256MB for about $70 CAD less, but it performs worse, and doesn't include a HL2 coupon.

Overall, I'm pretty impressed with the difference its made in games. Far Cry went from 20-25FPS to 40-45FPS in outdoor environments, with all details set to high at 1024x768x32.

I thought they stop giving out HL2 coupon for 9600XT.(card maker had to pay to get them)

Which brand is your card?

Asus A7N8X Deluxe, Xp 2500+(3200+), 512MB RAM, HIS Radeon 9500Pro

I got the ATI Radeon 9600XT, which cost a bit more, but the cost difference is made up for by the fact that I get HL2 (When released), as well as the Valve Premier Pack via STEAM(which includes Half-Life, Counter Strike, Team Fortress Classic, Deathmatch Classic, Half-Life®: Opposing Force and Ricochet)
