Well I got everything today and built my system, but I've had the computer restart by itself a few times. It always seems to happen when quitting a game and going back to the desktop. The card is a Sapphire 9800 Pro 128mb, and I went to the ati site and got the latest drivers already. I also have directx 9.0b.

The games it has happened on have been WC3 and the Far Cry demo. Any ideas ?

Just read somethin on a different board and giving it a shot now. In completely uninstalled the big ATI drivers, ran driver cleaner, and then installed only the display drivers. Kept away from the control panel garbage etc. So far so good - just ran WC3 and Far Cry and neither crashed upon exit. I'll see if this is a good fix after more time.

If control not having control panel fixed it, then I would try running it without fastwrites if you decide to install control panel. That sounds similar to the problem you are having.

Just a thought.

You might want to try a full install and disabling SMARTGART, too.

You can find a smartgart removal utility at Ati.com

I had same problem with my radeon 9800pro.
After trying every thing I found out that my
(9800Pro) was taking to much power from my power
suply (500watt).
What I did was put my radeon 9800pro on an old power
suply I had laying around, insteed of the one in my computer that solved my problem!

The system is as follows :

Biostar Ideq 200T SFF case
1 gig of Corsair pc3200 valueram (2x512)
P4 2.8ghz 800mhz fsb
120 gb Seagate HD
sapphire 9800 pro 128mb

I've only had one crash since I switched to the more basic drivers but I really need to install more games to get better testing. I don't really wanna base too much off the Far Cry demo since it is in fact just a demo, and it is just one game.

If it IS a power issue due to the small power supply that comes with the biostar - I'm curious as to if I could just buy another power supply and sit it next to my biostar and hook the video card up to that ? I just don't totally know how to go about this...(though the power cable that is attached to the card is VERY long, so i know it probably could work) Since nothing else would be going off that power supply I wouldn't have to spend money on somethin fancy.

But on a side note : The card is awesome so far, FC looks beautiful on lots of high settings at 1280x1024, and WC3 of course looks great !
