HandMap Product News

New HandMap for Palm Release - v5.1

A new version of our HandMap for Palm software is now on our web site. This
is now our main release version. If you are using any older versions we
recommend you upgrade to this version. Here are the highlights :-
a.. When using a Bluetooth GPS it will now remember the device last
connected and reconnect without discovery. Choose the BT Discover setting to
force a discovery.
b.. Added sorting of maps on map list screen by name, ID, size, East-West,
North-South
c.. Buffered drawing of sprites for smoother display - especially
flashing/selected objects
d.. Temporary databases deleted on exit to save memory
e.. Plus many bug fixes from the 5.0 release

New HandMap for PocketPC Release
A new release of HandMap for PocketPC is now available on our web site. The
GPS Plugin now has port speed setting to allow for non-standard GPS
receivers. HandMap and the GPS receiver will now save the key at the time it
is entered instead of at program exit in case the PocketPC were to crash for
any reason.

Chinese Touring Maps
Our overview maps now include a set of overview maps of China. These maps
are available for free in the member area for any existing owners of the
HandMap program.


Updated Map Collections
A number of the Russian maps have been updated - mainly in the North West
and Central Region collections. There have also been some updated German and
Canadian maps.

Americans favor news broadcast over YouTube citizen video news

A recent Zogby poll showed that most Americans still like the regular evening news broadcast over citizen video news reports posted on YouTube. Citizen news reports are basically where a regular Joe records a news event with a small camcorder or even a cellphone camera.
