Hi, I have a question. Im trying to install XP Pro on a Sony VAIO. Ive
tried that disc before and it works. When the installer starts and it
boots from the CD, it asks me to insert the disk labeled XP in drive A:
Im installing from a CD and Ive never had to insert a diskette to
install it.

Anybody know how to get around this to install XP?
Thanks in advance,
Dan

Isn't there a button under that called "Browse", where you can change
the path to a different drive? Or a small down arrow where you can scroll
to a different drive? Check it out!

Hi Dan,

With some boot CDs, the CDROM becomes drive [A:] when you boot from
the CD.

Thanks for your replys. There are no arrows or buttons. Nothing, just
to either put the diskette on A or exit.
Ive even tried disabling the floppy but it still gave me the same.

Any more ideas?

It stops the install. It asks me to press any key when the disc is in
drive A, and the only disc that is inside is the XP disco from which I
just booted from.

I dont know what to do now, Im desperate

Hi

Don't particularly remember seeing this prompt but when you boot from the CD
I believe it maps the CD drive a drive A (certainly it did this in W98 SE)
Does it stop the install at this point or does it need a key press or
anything?
