Ok..at the store I asked the guy...what is the difference between the geforece FX 5600 XT and the other one..he told me that the XT was a newer chip set and was faster. So Ibought it because it was only 120 bucks. I got home to find out that, the Xt was a lower end version of the card...kind of like SE in the Radeon series. I dont' know what is true now. And if it's true that it's a played down version...what can I compare it to? It's better than a 5200 ultra...right? Because it was almost twice as expensive. Please help me out. I would also like to see a performance chart with it compared to other cards if you know where to find it. Thanks a ton.

For NVIDIA, XT=underclocked

For Ati, XT=Overclocked.

Nice, eh?

I don't know much about the 5600XT, but I suspect it's a bit better than the 5200 ULTRA. I doubt all that much tho...

Still, if I were you, I'd return it and get a 9600 PRO if you can afford it.

Found this review of Chaintech 5600xt cards, maybe it will help. http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/gffx/gffx-31.html

I agree with Cleeve, it's only marginally better than the 5200Ultra. Return it, if you can, and get a 128MB 9600Pro, or 128MB 9600XT, check Newegg.com, they go for $140-$160 (US$)

Yes, blame Nvidia, they release this "XT" version to confuse consumers.
ATI came out with this "XT" label first which probably means "extreme".
Nvidia's dirty shot...just like Geforce4 MX series.

A fine day!
