ok so i sometimes get a blue screen stop error which says "a wait operation,
attach process, or yield was attempted from a DPC routine" then it explains
about restarting my computer if this is the first time this has happened. and
if this has happened before it could be due to newly installed hardware or
software.

also says i should go and disable bios memory caching and shading. and the
details are "0x000000b8 (0x00000000,0x00000000,0x00000000,0x00000000)

the thing is i havent installed any new hardware or software. i have all new
updates from windows. all updates for my hardware and software. no other
errors on my computer, such as devices or software. ive checked my whole
computer. i think it could be graphical as it only happens when i try to
start games. it doesnt happen all the time but is getting more frequent.
also the times it doesnt happen and im playing games the graphics may start
to go weird, such as vertical lines of patchy colours. the games are all
uptodate as are my graphics drivers. i
have no other known graphic problems. i also tried what it siad about the
bios settings but couldnt find them in the bios. ive tried every thing
possible, even gave my graphics card a good clean.i dont really know what
else
to do other than a system restore or reinstall of windows. neither i want to
do.

just wondering if any one has had this before and any ideas what is cuaseing
it. also every time this happens it will place a file in my mini dump but i
cant open them to read them.

any help here? if not ill contact windows.

im using a radeon 9700pro with the newest catalyst drivers and direct x 9.0c.
could be just my graphics card getting old, but any help would be great.

thanks

blue screen problem(s) seem to have stopped, try IE hotfix 889389 for xp SP2.
I also, went back to 08/04 ati drivers with control-panel,added wdm download.

Hi James90,

To determine what driver is causing the problem I need you to enable driver
verifier.
Steps:
1) Windows Key + R
2) Type in 'verifier' and hit enter
3) Make sure 'Create Standard Setting' is selected and hit next
4) Click on 'Select all drivers installed on this computer' and hit Finish
5) Reboot

There is a possibility that your computer will crash on reboot. If this
occurs hit F8 when rebooting just before the windows logo screen and select
the safe mode boot option. Follow the same steps above but on step 4 choose
'Select driver names from a list'; hit next; check the box next to any
driver where the provider is not Microsoft; hit Finish; reboot.

This will slow the performance of you computer a little while enabled but
will hopefully catch the driver causing corruption. Next time you crash
the blue screen will hopefully say something like
"DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION". If this occurs please send the
corresponding minidump (by default it is at c:\windows\Minidump ) my way.
If you have any questions or I didn't explain something well enough don't
hesitate to e-mail me (remove "online") back. Good Luck,
