I have roadrunner in the rochester ny area and everything is great. Just wondering if anyone (anywear) runs a game server with their residential rr account? I have plenty of bandwidth (384 up) but i know that RR frowns upon FTP servers and napster servers etc.,but i havnt seen any info on their feelings on game servers. It would not be running 24hrs a day. I just dont want to be notified by them if im doing something wrong
So if anyone is running a game server with RR please tell me how it works out for you and if you had any problems
thank you for the time

I had a friend that ran as fserv on mIRC from his RR account. They shut off his account and he had to call them to get it turned back on. He still has his fserv up, but now he limits the uploads.
I have never had a problem and I use napster, mIRC, FTP servers all the time. I'm just careful not to download/upload too much in one week (probably just arbitrary, but that's the time frame I use). I downloaded SuSE Linux, Mandrake Linux, and Red Hat Linux alon g with other random Linux stuff, about 15Gb in all, in three days. RR didn't seem to care, but I'm sure if I had kept it up they would have gotten upset.
Basically if you don't suck up too much bandwidth they won't care. Just don't use up like 35 GB a week or something crazy like that.

This is from my local policy .. one policy I've seen verbatim for other areas.. might be similar to yours. I'd say they obviously frown upon it.. and if you leave one going 24/7 you might run into some problems.
