9800pro Problem

I just built a new system with no overclocking whatsoever. My specs are as follows:

Abit IC7-G
P4 2.8
PC3500 Kingston HyperX - 1gb
ATI 9800 Pro - 128mb
Antec True 480
2 - WD360 Raptor drives in a Raid 0 array
Sony CD-RW
WinXP Pro SP1-A
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz Sound Card
Lian-Li 6077 with 5 case fans

Upon booting after the system has been down for a couple hours, the display is distorted, almost looks like artifacts in vertical bars all over the screen - a pixelated looking affair. This is not just in Windows, but on all boot screens and in the bios before drivers are even loaded. I've re-seated the card and changed power connectors. The only way I can seem to resolve it is by rebooting a couple times and the display returns to normal. After that, the card performs flawlessly. I only see this on a cold boot. I have not installed any other software other than WinXP itself. The latest drivers are installed as well. This problem started the second day after I had it put it together.

This is frustrating right after building a new system and I would appreciate any help offered.

Thanks in advance!
