A little off topic wouldn't you say, still though, having said that this would still be very handy for those folks still running the old coal burning 98. So it's got a better de-frag and scan disk....wouldn't be all that hard to better, the old one from memory was to set, and forget about using the PC for the weekend.

I don't think this unofficial service pack may cause problems, since it contains microsoft patches only and no 3rd party patch

Man, I've been waiting for something like this ever since Microsoft switched to live updates for patches. What a pain in the butt when you have only a dialup connection!

Now, since Microsoft stopped supporting Win98, most of the old patches are unavailable. A clean install means you take what you get with the orginal Win98SE disk. No DUN patch, no large volume FDISK, and whatever else. I can't even remember all the patches or how critical each one was.

The Unofficial SP 1.1 will be a big help. Thanks!

This is great! I only use win98se, when changing vid cards etc on my gaming rig etc. I've had to drag it to the office where I've got BB.

I tried to put together such a thing on a CD and couldn't get it right. If this works I'll be sooo happy.

I just reformated etc. last month toinstall new mobo, seemed to me all the updates were on the MS site. Guess I missed something?

Thanks for the link, uber useful
