Here's a fascinating issue to ask for help with.

I have a Tungsten T5 and my main PC runs Windows 2000.  I sync with the
Palm Desktop.

The hardware typically used is the standard USB synch cable which has a
separate power supply together with the Palm desktop unit in which the
T5 can sit.  This unit has its own HotSync button separate to the one in
cable.

Yesterday having syc'ed earlier in the day the button on the desk unit
stopped triggering the sync process.

A number of PC re-boots later I thought to remove the cable from the
desktop unit.  Rather than do that I located the spare cable I have and
use when travelling.  This worked fine connected directly to the T5
without the power connection.

I tried various permutations and combinations of cable, power unit (I
have two) and with and without the desktop cradle.

In the end it transpired that the problem only exists when using the
combination on the original power supply and the desktop unit.  I
changed the power uit over to my spare travelling one and the desktop
cradle now functions again for syncing.

However, the old power supply works just fine when used without the
desktop unit.

I'm happy to have fixed the problem but I'm puzzled as to why the
combination of power unit and cradle would not work and why the power
unit would work happily with just the cable...

Any ideas?

Andrew
