My mother has locked up her entire computer, even her mouse won't work. I've
had her reboot with no luck. I live 500 miles from her and can't figure out
what she's done. Nothing appears to be functioning according to her. Any
suggestions?

Carey - is this possibly the sollution to my problem. I havae tried getting
an answer and have not received a good solution yet. My laptop keeps locking
up at various times. I just installed Windows XP, previously had 98SE. SInce
then the laptop has locked up during reboot, duiring dial up on Internet,
during dowload of Norton, and during install of Norton. Any suggestions? or
should I try the repair install suggestion you gave to mslinda53. thx
