ok maybe my card didnt die but the fan did! i was checking to see why the screen kept going blank and the card burnt my hand so severely i actually i had to go tend to my burn. well ofcourse that means no fan so after looking at it i see that the two parallel pins that hook up to the power wire of the fan were badly bent. I tried to bend them back but on of them broke so my main quesiton is IS THE CARD SHOT AND IS IT FIXABLE??? this just cant be i have not even enjoyed this card for 4 months yet! well thansk for the help
Buying a new fan won't fix the bent, and now broken, power pins. And I don't see how they could have bent by them selves anyhow, so it seems to me like somehow they got damaged by someone in the household which means the card probably won't be acceptable for replacement under the manufacturer's warrenty.

so i cant replace the pins? my case could have fallen over or i could have knocked it when i was putting in a new cd drive. id just feel sick about this if i had to replace this, as i was hoping it would last until atleast 2004
i already feel like u,my radeon 9700pro overheat because the fan is die, lucky im still have warranty, more lucky the distributor dont distribute radeon 9700 pro again,so i pay more money to get radeon 9800xt.
Dont screw up with expensive stuff man
GPU fans are 12 volt just like all PC fans. If you can't fix the pin (I doubt you can) then solder the little fan to a standard power connector (Molex or the floppy disk style connector) and draw the power directly from the power supply. The power lead is available right there at the end of your 9700 where you have to plug in the auxillary power connector.
