I would think 9700 pro, 5900 XT is about the same as a 9600 XT, but the 9700 pro is better than the 9600 XT. The 9600 XT comes with a Half-Life 2 coupon though....

Anxiously awaiting yamhill....is it here yet?
Edited by gobeavers on 02/21/04 11:18 AM.

The 9700 Pro is the best card there.

Most 9600XT's don't come with HL2, some retail boxes do. If this has the coupon, that is a nice bonus considering the money you save.

The difference between a 9700 Pro and 9800 Pro is only $30. Go to newegg and get the Sapphire 9800 Pro for $230.
In the US, it is $15 now, but where he lives it might be $100. Unimaginable to me just how different the pricing is for others in these forums.

If you get the Built by ATI R9600XT , they still come with the coupon for HL2. Thats what made me decide to buy it.

Do what I did in your situation and get urself a 9700 Pro, especially if its not too much more. BUT, if value is more important to you, you may one to consider the other cards since they come with games.
