gpu overheat causing pc shutdown?

i searched a little, but not too sure.

if you were playing a heavy game on a modern sys w/the mx440, if the vid card 'overheated', would it cause the comp to shutdown and refuse to turn on for about an hour?

or more likely close the game instantly (go straight to desktop w/o warning) and just refuse to run any games?

More likely your psu that overheated for that long.
