Greets to all. Hope someone can help out.
I am trying to troubleshoot a problem with a Treo 650 and Instep Print 2.2.
I installed the Instep Print 2.2 trial version, am trying to print to a Pentax
PocketJet 200 via Infrared, placing the Treo 650 and the infrared dongle on the
Pentax PJ200 very close together; and encounter the following error message:
An error was encountered while attempting to initialize the Printer object. Last
error = 1.
The error message is inconsistent. Sometimes a document will print. Most of the
time I encounter the error message.
On the same phone I also have Documents to Go v.7.006(945) and QuickWord
v.6.2.3. Both applications do not detect the presence of the Instep Print 2.2
software and/or say no printer is installed.
I have tried changing fonts or fontsizes, and the printing speed (57K to 115K),
no change in error.
Instep Print Components (7 total) are all installed on the internal memory card
of the Treo 650. They are: Instep Fonts Library, Instep Print, Instep PrintDate,
Instep Print DocEng, Instep Print DocRTF, Instep Print Docs, Instep Print
Engine.
Deleted all seven components using FileZ, including a prefs file called Instep
Docs. Reloaded the trial version. Now whenever you select a document to print,
the Treo 650 hangs.
I am puzzled by the absence of technotes or support links on the Instep Group
website. What's up with that.
I will also note two other things in case this is significant. This is a
replacement phone: the Treo people sent a replacement phone to replace a
defective unit. There may or may not be issues with the ROM upgrade and Instep
Print, as a ROM upgrade was performed on this phone to take advantage of new
features.
I also note on this forum some issues with certain memory cards but don't know
if this is relevant.

How close is close? Is close too close? Try about 20-50cm apart.
