USB to Serial converter, any good ones?

Has anyone found a decent USB to serial converter for those of us without
serial ports. I believe the belkin ones are not suitable for some
applications. My job will be expanding out to include programming PLC
controllers via serial port but I dont have one. Other techs i have talked
to say they havent found one yet (addressing issues?) I may need to ask them
some more questions regarding the fault. Anyway ill start with this
question anyway.
