Hi,

Yes a lot of posts from me but well...it's a new computer and a new install so I have a lots of new troubleshooting I've never had before. Also I just switched from Windows 2000.

Anyway just now I have found that even though I have a lot of shortcuts such as "pictures" "movies" "downloads" etc on my desktop, when I click "save as" when I'm downloading something and I browse to desktop, none of the shortcuts show up.

This is strange......

Remember, shortcuts can show up on your desktop from both the

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop

and the

C:\Documents and Settings\YourUsername\Desktop

When you save something like that you're most likely going to YourUsername.

Maybe thats the problem?

It's always the one thing you never suspected.

Thanks for your reply jlanka. Yes I did have the shortcuts in my User Profile but I tried moving them and the problem stays the same.

Some more info on the problem:

-I do have Service Pack 1 and all updates installed for WinXP

-Folders do show up along with My Computer and the like. Shortcuts do not show up.

-Shortcuts do show up when I am installing a program and browsing to the location I want to install it. This led me to believe that perhaps the problem was a setting in IE 6. However I am now using Opera 7 and I can't see shortcuts using it to download either.

Any ideas?
