Gaming fps improvement?

Hey! I was wondering if there are any improvements/upgrades I can add on my laptop (external graphic card?) that will get me good fps when I record gameplay with a screen recorder like fraps.

An external video card setup for a laptop would cost almost what a full new laptop costs.

There are a lot of mobile GPUs that handle games just fine. That said, you pretty much have to order/purchase the laptop with it installed. Going aftermarket (when possible) or some type of external setup is limited in functionality and expensive.
