I went to Staples to check out some heat sinks because I was thinking about overclocking my CPU, and I saw this guy looking for Video Cards, definently not knowing what he was doing. At my Staples store there are about 4 cards to offer Fx5200(64-bit memory), Radeon 9200, MX440, and some other cheap-o cards. So I suggested to the guy, get the 9200, was this the right thing, because in the reviews I've seen it looks like the fx5200 would be better, I'm not really sure...I didn't think about enough I guess. I should have looked at the specs on the back of the box. Oh well...he'll be ok I guess.

Was it a 5200 Ultra or non? Either way, as crappy as both of those cards are, they're both better than the 9200.

Me: are you saying I can't provide?
Me: cause I know I can provide.
Me: oh and I can provide money too;)

For future reference check the tomshardware VGA charts, accessible from THG's main page (www.tomshardware.com).

You did the guy a favor. A R9200 might be slower than the 9100 & 8500le, but it is clearly better than a 64bit FX5200. Sad choices for sure, but the 9200 is the best of the junk they had in stock.

Oh, I musta skimmed over the "64-bit" in there. Nevermind different story then! The 9200 is a bit better. And ATI roxorz!

I saw some guy buying a pile of stuff from PCworld, with a satisfied-looking salesman walking next to him & I overheard the salesman say something like "..and that's a really good graphics card you've got there..." and I distinctly saw "5200" on the side of the box with his new PC in it.. the poor sap.

I'm not public-spirited enough to do anything about these things though...
