Hi :)

Not as easy as that...

You will probably have to PAY EXTRA Import duties and VAT as well...

LOOK into that BEFORE you buy from another country... otherwise the parts could cost a LOT more than those in Finland...

i mean for example i3-3220 costs 120€ = 160$ here

and like every site that isnt in finland sells it for 110-130$

i know its only 20 $ difference but it adds up quite fast

Hi :)

Did you UNDERSTAND what I said...it MEANS ...that i3 could cost $250 in Finland once you have added import duties AND VAT @ 20%..

Hello,

Electronics are easier to manufacture and sell from Asia to the Americas more than Europe.

The components are actually fairly priced in Finland because the difference is usually from imports and taxes.
Though taxes are high they're are not in the crazy high levels the developing countries keep them at.

Without your preferred storage solution and operating system, you can still get a good gaming pc for 700€. Here's an example.

well what you said was true, kind of

checked the tax % etcetc and the cost formula is

( product + shipping ) x 1,23 = final price

komplett?

tried the postage calculator but its not giving anything, i select Finland and type the postal code and press go and nothing happens
January 17, 2013 9:44:16 PM

postage costs 10-20£ (tried checkout) + price of item x 1,23 = final price = too damn much

damn expensive finland, hate this crap..

even a 0.5L soda costs like 2€

btw if i buy something from there does the price include VAT? cause damn i dont know
January 17, 2013 9:53:49 PM

yeah vat is included

but not sure how it works

pretty sure when i was in argos tonight there was something about visitors from other EU countries

being able to claim vat back on items over £30 or something like that

but i didnt read it as it didnt apply to me

have had a look on the uk revenue and customs site but cant make much sense of it

January 17, 2013 10:02:25 PM

let me see, ill do the calculations how much i would waste / save if i was going to buy from there
-----------(product)---( post )-------------------------------------(damn)----------
i7-3770 - 259.99£ + 20,66£ = 280,65£ x 1.1997 = 336€ x 1,23 = 414€

from here
---------(sale)--(post)---------
350€ - 25€ + 5-7€ = 330-333€

414€ - 330€ = 84€ damn i hate this country

and well in the end the price would be the same.. if i wouldnt had to pay that 23% tax..

Hi :)

VAT is strange stuff.... VAT is NOT the same in all EU countries... so there will be an adjustment from buying in one country and selling in another...

Also.... ANYTHING that comes into ANY EU country from OUTSIDE the EU , will have VAT levied on it at that particular countries rate (in this case Finland rate) ...in the UK that would be 20% ...

Then we get to import duty :( ... this is also added by most countries.... import duties vary on what item it is... so a car or a computer part will have a different rate of import duty....

The OP can look on his countries national tax site and will find a list of import duty applicable to each sort of item...

So if he buys from OUTSIDE the EU... HE GETS >>> Item price + Import duty = X , then you add on VAT to X, to get total price...

As you can see I buy a lot from abroad lol... the vat and tax situation is horrendous.....and for a one off is not really a goer...

The prices in Finland are as fair as they can get at pc specialist stores.

You can't magically get them for some other price from another country with better prices without paying the associated fees like taxes and shipping or having to compromise on a good warranty for example.
