Hello. I was wondering if anyone could help me out deciding which video card to buy. When it comes to hardware I'm pretty much an idiot so bear with me.

<A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-240-009&depa=0" target="_new">This is the video card I'm thinking about buying</A> (Radeon 9600 SE). My question is, will it work on my computer?

Right now I have an 8MB Nvidia Riva TNT Vanta. <A HREF="http://h20015.www2.hp.com/en/document.jhtml?reg=&plc=&lc=en&cc=us&prodId=hppavilion19670&docName=bph05394&cat=prodinfo#P102_1487" target="_new">HP's specs of my video card, (and everything else about my crappy PC).</A> From what I gather, I believe it's an AGP 2X.
NewEgg's specs of the R9600SE says "BUS: AGP 1X/2X/4X/8X". So does this mean this 8X card should be compatible with my 2X slot? And if it is, is there a better video card out for around the same price? (someone mentioned the Geforce MX 460 or 4000 being better). I'm looking to spend about $70 tops. I know that's not much for a video card, but I don't want to put too much money into this computer because I'll more than likely get a new one within a year or so.

Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks alot.

Ok, so according to that guide <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-282&depa=0" target="_new"> the Radeon 9200</A> is the best card in my price range.

However, I'm still not sure as to if the card is AGP 1X/2X/4X/8X it means it will work in a 2X slot. Anyone know?

Sweet, thanks alot for the help guys. I went ahead and got a R9000 64M. It works pretty good and I figure it'll be the best this POS computer ever sees.

Well, thanks again.
