no install any Via driver
Why don't you have the VIA drivers installed? You MUST install them, as one of drivers in their package is the AGP driver.

 Hey now, don't blame the drivers on this one.

I'd say it's usually at least 95% user error and other system problems/instabilities causing a crash. Maybe 3% bad hardware and the remaining 2% the drivers at the most.

What is a Grandmars 8500 anyway? Never heard of that one, maybe try powered by Reference drivers not just the generic ATI ones. What is the history of the problem? Existing stable system, video card upgrade, driver upgrade? What procedures were taken to uninstall old drivers and reinstall all drivers correctly? Etc. Bios flashed to a Radeon 9100? Why? No Via 4-in1's? WHY?

Remove all ATI drivers and Via chipset drivers, reboot, reinstall Via 4in1 drivers and try the drivers from Grandmars (whoever that is, not an ATI partner anyway) or from ATI's powered by support pages HERE

Was it the native Windows XP driver or the driver from the installation disc that came with your video card?

Who makes that card? I that the actual brand?

This guy could have done anything to cause this problem, but it's a great opertunity for asss hats like Kinney to throw stones at ATi. He probably flashed a 128mb 9100 bios onto his 64mb 8500....we'll never kow though.

rofl!!!!!!

actually, nvidia's new drivers on my "legacy" ti4200 isnt the best either, im using 45.25 for best image/speed... so there Kinney ;P

ATI is known for crappy drivers tho.. i wonder what drivers he is using, OMEGA?

thread author, please tell us :

1 what drivers you are using, and where you got them

2 what happens wen you crash.. is it in games, or just random freezing in windows?

3 did it work before ? just started happening? Catalysts have been out for a while, did you just pick this card up?

4 anything else that would help us out
