Yeah, since I just found out today that you had 33.6K, I had to joke. I'll stop that after today. :)

I won't even tell how long cable took.

There was some good info in there.

A real 16pipes, 32 shader units.

I think they are completely wrong on the HIS chip though.

NV is ditching the deep pipeline and long word instruction set as well.
From the magazines description of these things, (which is oddly nearly identical to wherever I was first explained how the NV30 worked and failed), NV has made a nice piece of silicon this time.

All signs point towards an NV comeback.. if not, this at least wont be another NV30.

I cant wait until the 13th and 26th.
Marked on the calender!

200 million transistors, and 130 watts+, theres no way it could be a NV30 heh

32 shader units? wtf .. must be a completley different design than before

I like Maximum PC, I even have a subscription (along with others), but this is alot of preview PR wrapped up really, nothing new.

I liked their info on the GF4ti, Parhelia, R300, and even NV30, but this isn't at the same level I've come to expect with a new VPU/GPU launch. PErhaps the tightly sealed PR lid has hurt their review. More hype than info, unlike previous reviews/previews (which used to include disected views of the actual chip).

'The Second Slim Shader', eh?

I still get Maximum PC, although I like CPU magazine the best, I hope to keep this one on my Christmas list for while. I cancelled PC magaizine ages ago, and recently let PC World subscription run out. Anyway, as nice as the magazines are for tips and tricks, most of the hardware info can be found on the web a month earlier. Shoot, much of it you point out before I find it myself.

Yeah I get CPU too, and have shared the website codes with others in the forum to look at follow-ups to articles (why don't they just let everyone go there, it would increase viewership of the site, thus increasing ad rates).

Yeah I used to find Maximum PC to be cutting edge stuff, and CPU to be the overall view of computer tech and the industry and trends. But really everything in it is well behind the info on the web (which is free), and you can even get the demos quicker too.

I like Kyle Bennett's stuff, Anand's stuff's not bad, but I really wish they'd get rid of Perillo like they did on TechTV, he adds nothing to CPU.

The main reason to read MaximumPC and CPU is to have XP tweaks and such in a 'reference' format, as well as to get a feel for stuff you wouldn't look for on your own, like new SFF cases, or new bundles, or heaven forbid a DELL, no not the desktop, they ARE crap, but the new Gaming Laptop that outshon those of Voodoo and Alienware.

Hey I used to get BYTE magazine back in 1980-85, I think I still have some at the cottage with those ads for PCs that cost as much as a moddest mid size car ($8,000 for an IBM PC w/ HD)

BTW, I like to use fake names for my subscriptions (buy <i>gift</i> subscription to my own address), so that way when I get junk mail for 'Al Coholic' (I just got Columbia Records and Tapes '<i>offer</i>' on Thurs) I know where it came from.
