Hello,
How do I stop w7 from using librarys? They are a pain. When I want to go to a directory or a file that is where I want to go, not to some list of what amounts to a list of shortcuts. W7 will not allow a directory to be pinned to the taskbar unless it is in a library.

You can't.
No actually they are not shortcuts, they show you where your files actually are regardless where they are on your system even if on different hard drives.
Whatever you do, don't delete any files from the library unless you mean to, or they will be gone, unlike shortcuts.
You can make directories yourself and add them to the Library.
You just need give yourself some time to get used to the new system, it's quite easy once you get the hang of it.

Like anything new, it takes time to get used to a new operating system. And, like Jonmor68 said, since you can't stop Windows 7 from using libraries, you might as well try to adjust to them. Check out these library FAQs. They are a great resource for learning - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Libraries-frequently-asked-questions

Hope this helps!
