So the poor slob who follows your buyers list buy's the Radeon 9600 thinking it's the fast card at the moment only to discover that within 1 month or less a new card is out and it's 10% - 30% faster than his current card.
There probably won't be anything faster at the same price point until quite a while after the launch of the next gen cards. there's some great bargains out there at the moment on 9800 & 9600 cards. I would expect the next-gen cards to retail for about £350-450 when they hit retail here in the UK, whereas I only paid £155 for my 9800Pro, which is now clocked higher than a 9800XT. So if someone's looking for a card for $X, that choice isn't suddenly going to change overnight when the new cards come out.
And do you really think a newbie will look at this forum and not see all these 6800 Pro & X800 XT threads? if they've gone so far as to find the buyer's guide, then they are doing some research.
The buyer's guide is there to address the common questions like "Should I get a 5700 or a 9600SE" (or whatever). The rest of the site and forum is for discussing upcoming stuff.
The R9600PRo is still a good choice for it's price point. There is no new replacement for the FX5700 in the near term, and the FX5900XT is still significantly more expensive. And the replacement for the R9600 series, the RV380 isn't out for quite some time. So NOTHING within a month will come close to the R9600 series.
The R9800XT and FX5900 series on the other hand MAY have competitors but not for a while yet, and then it's just a matter of moving price points.
Once the cards are on the shelves then there should be a change in the buyer's guide, until that time it's all speculation of a speculum.
Anyone who isn't aware that there are new cards on the horizon hasn't done their own homework, and doesn't deserve special attention.

Agreed 100%. The original poster's question was ... how should I say this ... mmm ... inappropriate ...

It's not available, why bother. It's not in Anandtech's buyers guide, and being a pro-nV site, I'd say that's a good sign that it doesn't belong there yet.
And why not put the X800 in there since it's supposed to actually be available for BUYERS before the NV40?
IF you want to appease the nay-sayers, then just put in big bold hollywood letters: COMING SOON! GF6800 and X800 series.
Well that's my two frames worth.
