Advice on obtaining a crack so we can play this on two machines with only one expansion cd?

you could just make a "backup" copy with clonecd and a decent burner. If not, <A HREF="http://www.megagames.com" target="_new">http://www.megagames.com</A>.
Either way, to play on battle.net you will all need your own cd key.
