I am getting this error, I have done what it suggests to check permissions
are allowed and I still cannot get updates. Running Windows XP home. I
appreciate any help on this.

Hi asussiegirl7965,

A more appropriate newgroup for issues/problems with Windows Update would
be:
microsoft.public.windowsupdate

Try registering the Wuaueng.dll file and see if that resolves the problem:

Go to Start>Run and key in:

regsvr32 Wuaueng.dll

Click on OK or hit ENTER

Click on OK in the RegSvr32 dialogue box

If you still have problems getting updates after trying the above, register
the MSXML program files:

Go to Start>Run and key in:

regsvr32 Msxml.dll

Click on OK or hit ENTER

Click on OK in the RegSvr32 dialogue box

Go to Start>Run and key in:

regsvr32 Msxml2.dll

Click on OK or hit ENTER

Click on OK in the RegSvr32 dialogue box

Go to Start>Run and key in:

regsvr32 Msxml3.dll

Click on OK or hit ENTER

Click on OK in the RegSvr32 dialogue box

Restart your computer, then try accessing Windows Update.

If you still have problems getting updates, d/load and install MS XML Parser
3.0 SP4:
