How would one look that up?

That's really a shame that someone who has made as many posts as him was banned. I suppose it's necessary at times, what I'd like to see is a (((one time)) warning which is in effect for (((one year))) {***edit*** for anyone "addict" or better no need worring about banning a newbie}. Put it under the others forums (away form public view) yes another sticky and let who ever is in charge of banning make a member notice, that so and so is on notice, commencing now for one year. THG don't need a reason it should be obvious why they are on notice. I'd think that would send a clear message and act as a deterrent to the kind of behavior Kinney has shown recently.

As for me I have never been banned and I completely criticize thg when I feel appropriate. Forum moderators would be the death of thgf's.. I know I would not be able to handle that. I watch other forum sites with moderators and they close threads ban guys just because they do not see it as the moderator sees it. That would truly be terrible. I hope Kinney was not banned but then again something did need to be done when he was clearly just antagonizing other posters.

And why would he be banned? Because hes a vocal promoter of Nvidia? If so thats very lame. He was one of the few people that livened the forum up, even if most of what he said was purposely said to sound ignorant of the way things really are.

Although me and him didn't agree on much, I'm going to miss reading his posts and getting into arguements with him. We never really saw eye to eye on anything, but he was never abusive to me in any way. Why would he be banned.

I didn't complain about kinney; I just got annoyed with him for deciding the result of the 6800 v X800 match before it had started.

Kinney bothered me a bit, but as long as it was here, no big whoop! I was close to having Fredi warn him when he sent me a whole bunch of hostile PMs (seriously keep it in the forum kids), but he apologized and cooled off before it got out of hand.

It really depends on what he did and who he did it to. I didn't call for Xeon's banishment (which would have been valid IMO) because it stayed as bafoonery and I never felt that it was a serious issue. Had he continued with other members and tried to silence them with threats, then that would've been different.

I agree with warning before banning, but <b>maybe</b> he WAS warned. I remember WS and GW's warning periods, the forum died a little then IMO, so I would think it's not just one person.

I personally railed against Thomas' visit to calm things down a while back because it seemed to be simply be a drive-by kind of thing and would stiffle the entire forum. I and others thought I might be warned/banned for that (alot of people defended me, which surprised me a bit), but he was patient with people voicing their gripes. Afterward he PM'ed me to explain that he doesn't want this to be a place with mods monitoring everything, but at the same time doesn't want only the lunatics running the asylum. The main thing is to have fun while moving things forward. He leaves it mostly in our hands to control things here. And when that fails Fredi gets involved, and I'm sure he doesn't want to spend all his time doing that either.

He may be back or this may have been the motivation to go back to Anand or find another forum, I don't know. If he makes it back at the launch of the X800 series, then that would likely give people a chance to wait for the cards to arrive before being bombarded by FUD and PR.

HE'll be missed that's for sure, and despite what many of you may think, it wasn't me, as I've said before I'm not for silencing people unless it goes WAY beyond acceptable, and it wasn't there YET for me. However I direct you to <A HREF="http://forumz.tomshardware.com/community/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=37289#37289" target="_new">Kinney's own statements</A> about SPUD's ban in <A HREF="http://forumz.tomshardware.com/community/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=37267#37267" target="_new">THIS thread</A>. So in the end that same "proper authority" got him too.
