Hey guys, need a hand here.

Got a brand new ASUS P4P800 mobo. It wouldn't POST, no Power LED, no sounds, no video, nothing. Took it all apart to the bare essentials (1 stick 512meg DDR400, video card, CPU, nothing else) and finally narrowed it down to the Saphire Radeon 9700Pro. I've already swapped out everything, old P4 CPU, PSU, etc. 9700Pro is the cultprit.

The mobo posts fine when I put my old GeForce3 AGP in there, but not with the 9700pro. The PN # is 109-94200-11

I'm aware there's a possible compatibility problem as noted in the ASUS manual. But other people reported no problems with their 9700Pro xxxxxx-11. Is there a firmware I can upgrade or something?

What the hell, do I have to buy an ATI 9800Pro now?

Did you try the 9700 Pro in a different system?

Turn your speakers on the motherboard tells you what isnt booting / problems when loading. When we were installing my board we were having some problems and nothing was happening just a blank screen, and I was reading threw the manual and I said joking around to my friend, this thing supposidly talks, turn on the speakers and maybe itll tell your dumb ass what your doing wrong, we bothed laughed, he turned the speakers on being a prick, and there was actually a voice loop telling us what the problem was. Go figure, I dont know if this will help, but it helped us =D

I know that haunting voice all too well. My first P4P800 deluxe kept greeting me with "system failed CPU test...system failed CPU test"....ugh...

Bah, nothing worked. Like I said, no sounds, no case LEDs, no post, nothing. No grounding issue either. Just PSU fan running, all voltage reports fine (tested with my multimeter), and mobo LED light is on.

The 9700 Pro works fine in all my older 8x and 4x AGP mobos. One of those PC's will get that card. I threw in the towel and bought an ATI 9800 Pro. Lucky me, it happened to be on sale at Ciruit City, $200 after rebate.

All is well now... but was hoping for a fix and save myself from buying a new card. Oh well, at least I'm a happy camper, fragging more peeps at a faster fps.
