TECH: WG 4600 Monitor issue ( flashing )

Alright, I recently installed a cap kit on a 19inch WG4600. I'll
admit that although I did a great job with the replacing of the
capacitors, I was pretty sloppy when it came to making sure where each
wire plugged into where. After I did the cap kit, I plugged everything
back into where I thought it should be. The only thing I did not plug
in was labeled "J". In fact, I mistakenly put that cable into the
place labeled "M".

I fired it up and got nothing. No pops or blown out capacitors but
still nothing. The neck wasn't glowing so I realized something wasn't
right. I realized that the wire labled "J" was in the wrong spot and I
put it into the right place.

When I fired it up again, all I got was a solid blue screen. I turn
the blue down and it did nothing. I powered down and made sure things
weren't amiss. When I plugged it back in, it was green. Then it
became flickering and now occasionally "snaps" or "pops" slightly and a
flash of white surrounded by red, green and blue occasionally happens.

Any ideas? I will probably take the entire thing out and make sure the
polarity of my caps were right but I wanted to get your opinion. If
you have an idea, reply or e.mail me at jake dot vanorder at gmail dot
com.

Thanks in advance.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the game is otherwise working. There is
sound present but no screen.

Thanks!

Okay, by looking at my other WG4600, I figured out that another one of
the wire connectors was hooked up incorrectly. I now have image but
it's upside down.

Any ideas?

John,

Thanks! I figured it out on my own but here's the funny part. As I
was adjusting everything, I pulled off my alligator clips that were
connected so that I could measure B+. What happens? The clip slips
off the wrong thing and shorts the whole shebang. Luckily, it's only
the fuse but that means I have to take the whole thing apart....

Ah well. At least it worked..

Thanks for the help!

That would be the first thing. Sounds like you popped a cap :)
