copying to clipboard from cmd prompt

On my win2K box, in a cmd prompt window, I can copy text to the clipboard by simply dragging the mouse over the text as is standard in windows.

But on XP Pro I always have to select Edit->Mark under the upper left control menu.

Is that how is works on all XP systems? or is there a setting that will let the mouse drag automatically select text?
