$1500 Laptop

I am looking for a semi-portable high proformance laptop. A hybrid between ultra-portable ultrabooks and super heavy gaming laptops. I'm not gaming, graphics are not of high concern. Intel 4000 Graphics are fine (before anybody says this sounds like I'm describing the macbook pro, I'm a PC person).

Important factors are CPU speed, build quality, and screen resoultion.

With your budget, pretty much any laptop will be in the "high performance" category. I would suggest looking at MSI, Sony, Lenovo, Sager and possibly Asus units for quality and would avoid HP (although rumoured to have improved quality), Dell and Acer.
Look at what is available through your typical vendors but look also at customizers like CyberpowerPC, XoticPC, iBuyPower and others.
You should have little to no problem finding a unit with the proper whistles and bells for your wants.
