I was going to do a quick PCB swap in Ground Kontrol this weekend and got
fairly stuck rather quickly. ;-)
I have a Point Blank 2 boardset (Namco System 11 type) that I want to use
with a couple 'normal' Happ guns (no recoil or anything). Apparently Point
Blank 2 is different than Point Blank on the PCB-front since the conversion
instructions for Point Blank to Happ guns aren't even close.
The schematics aren't helpful since they simply show the gun signals going
into an EMI supression board then then connecting up to a "Position" board
that my set does not seem to have...
At this point (heh-heh, punny) I'm not even sure if I have a full set. I've
got:
a) System 11 Mother PCB (biggest board, with JAMMA connector)
b) ROM board (smallest, connects to the Motherboard)
c) System 11 Gun I/F PCB (middle of stack, connects to the 96 pin DIN
header)
d) CPU board (top of stack, the Playstation CPU/GPU core)
Sooooo... Anyone know where the guns might connect on this bugger? The Gun
I/F PCB has a 10 pin header on it which appears to be a bunch of big current
sinks-- I'm guessing those are for lamps and the recoil solenoids on the
Namco guns.
On the Gun I/F PCB there is an unpopulated "J4" header with six positions
that looks interesting. (Could be RGB+Sync or something?) And an
unpopulated "J5" header with two positions. (Could be two gun sensors--
they're thin traces, so likely not power of any sort.)
On the Mother PCB there's J106-- no idea what that's for. And the big "aux"
connector J101 which I know has some spare audio signals and extra inputs
and whatnot.
