X800XTPlatinum and GF6800Ultra Extreme?

Well the InQ's got a little more fuel for the fire again.

<A HREF="http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=15662" target="_new">http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=15662</A>

The initial release of cards for reviewers tomorrow may not be the regular X800XT (Should be releasing the PRO reviews too), but the top end Platinum editions. Thus creating another version of the cards.

Added to that list the GF6800 with the new BIOS will be the GF6800UltraExtreme, and the Rev.1 will be the plai GF6800Ultra.

Also of note is that the limited quantities of top NV40s may go straight to Gainward, which isn't surprising as they are the top end boys for nV IMO.

One more day to wait, folks...

My money's on the X880 XT being faster than the 6800 Ultra.

same here

funny how people used the arguement "well its possible that the ATI card may be slightly faster, but at least i can buy nvidia NOW"

well guess what, nvidia just paper launched it early and theres probably no way youll be able to buy a 6800 any sooner than a R420!

ive also read a few places that nvidia's yeilds are going to be low because of some problem with their chip maker.. probably just a rumour

man.. wish Kinney wanst banned, it would be fun to make him eat his own words

Nothing on the XT, let alone the XT Platinum, but there was that one e-tailer (ALL*) who had the pro for $499.

Yeah that's what they said in the first link of my second post.

They are only getting 10,000 from IBM, and TMSC hasn't even taped out their production yet.

I find it funny since Kinney made so much about the GF6800 'being here now' and not being about rumours, etc. This whole launch is a rumour so far.

It'll be interesting to see what exactly does become known tomorrow. X880 info as well?

Should be fun, guess I need to cut back on the brinking tonight.

If it's true that they only made 10,000 GPU's, it's reminiscent of the 5800's scarce availability at launch.

it's the Nvidia 800-suffix curse!

After reading that article it scares me, only 2000 out of the 10000 can run at 400mhz, and only 200 can run at 450mhz. Man that sucks. There goes my hope of overclocking on stockcooling.

the name is kinda stupid but I could care less, just want to see the performance. And I wish ati would get there OpenGL speed to nvidia's level. That is there sore spot!

Next Ati Catalyst Driver Main focus INCREASE OPEN GL SPEED BY 10-20%.

Forget get the bug fixes for 1 month!

The thing about the naming isn't so much the dumb names as that it implies another level of perfromance with a premium attached to it. Like and extra $50-100 for the Paltinum or Extreme.

Milk 'em for every last cent.
