You shouldn't compare the X800Pro price with the 9800XT because prices havn't started falling yet, at least not noticably. Wait a few months and the 9800XT's price will go down a lot, though even then I wouldn't buy it, the 9800Pro will still offer better value.

Abit IS7 @ 275 FSB, OCZ PC4200 RAM @ 550Mhz, P4 2.4 @ 3.3Ghz Vcore @ 1.625, Sapphire Radeon 9800P @ 410/780.
Thermalright SLK-947U, P3 HS @ NB.

1337 stuff! I'm gonna start feeling outclassed here pretty soon. Sux:(

Me: are you saying I can't provide?
Me: cause I know I can provide.
Me: oh and I can provide money too;)
Rachel:): why do we need money when we can just stay in our room and have sex all day?

Na the 9800XT will not be reduced in price they will just disappear according to the sales rep from sapphire anyway. Same goes for the 9800pro. They are too expensive to make to reduce prices any lower.

And why not compare to prices now I mean thats what they are now not in a few weeks/months.

Well, if they're offering the X800 PRO's at the same price as the 9800XT's, they will *have* to reduce the prices on remaining 9800XT's or no-one will buy them.

So they'll go down, then drop off the face of the earth forever.

A Pentium 3 Tualatin 1.4 Ghz well set you back something like $200, a lot more than even a 2.8 Northwood. Even years after they've been introduced they're still expensive to make, and I really don't seen anyone buying them (simply better to replace mobo, RAM and processor with a 2500+).

I don't think that the 9800XTs are really expensive to produce, they are only a bit different than the 9800Pros and cost about $150 more, I think that's the price you pay for getting the best product out there (not anymore, but you get the point) and not because they are so much more expensive to produce. It makes sense to me that 9800XTs will drop considerably in price while the 9800Pros drop just a bit.

True, but CPUs raise in price when they go obsolete, while videocards drop in price... mostly because if you're stuck with a Tulation MOBO and don't want a new one, you don't have a choice, an the CPU makers take advantage of that.

An AGP video card can be used in any mobo made in the last... gee, 5 or 6 years now? SO given the choice people will simply buy a better video card. Video cards have to drop in price when their comparative performance drops.

I'm suprised they're selling it at £300. That's quite aggressive pricing!

I would have thought £350 at least - That's what I paid for my Ti4600 when I bought it, and it had been out for a little while then.

Not that I'm ever paying that much for a gfx card again - by the time my 4600 needed replacing My 9800Pro only cost £155 - so hopefully the same will be true by the time I decide to Replace the 9800 too.

I couldnt believe it when i looked on the overclockers site -299 for x800 pro, 399 for 6800 ultra! Nvidia gotta do something about that!

XP2000, 512 ddr 2700ram, GF4 MX440, XP Pro

Yeah, but £300($540US) is still more expensive than what you can buy it in the US ($350). So it's not an AMAZING price, it's just a good deal compared to what they are also offering at that price. Hopefully the recent DELL shinanigans give people hope for very close pricing to the US market in the future. And while you guys have the VAT, even Canadians with the GST (and some people with PST [not me  ]) it's still far cheaper here we pay ($580CAD/418US/£233).

Nice Dude, Congrats!

I know we can rely on you to give early feedback.

So have you sold you old one yet? If you get near the same price that would be pretty sweet, upgrade for less.

Our prices in the uk are obscene. Anyway, 500 seems like a ripoff, britdude - go to overclockers.co.uk!

As soon as I get the card I will do 3dmark, UT2004, X2, Farcry and any other game comparisons to my 9800pro flashed to XT. Overclocked and stock comparisons too. Also any driver bugs and DVD+AVI playback.

Man I can't wait.

BTW I sold my 9800pro for £135 - same price as I payed for it so not too bad. Got a 9500np @ 400/300 and got a buyer for that.

Speedy let us know how that thing overclocks!! The best price i could get it for the BBA card is at 400CAD, which seems a little high, anyways i hope the price drops when the XT gets released.

It's not amazing, certainly, but it's just slightly less of a rip-off than usual!

Like I said, I once forked out £350 for a geforce4! Served me well though... But I'm not going to do that again I think, unless I win the lottery or something  . I'll just wait for the next generation and then see what the prices are.

Many's the time I've browsed through newegg.com or similar stateside websites and been depressed about the prices. Half the time it just seems like they just replace the $ sign with a £ to get the UK price :frown: ..
