The funny thing is that it really appears that even up until 16x12 Far Cry is somewhat CPU limited for the X800XTPE.
Frame rates dip only marginally when the res. is uped to 12x10 and 16x12 w/out AA/AF.
Look at FiringSquad's review results;

Even with AA/AF you can see how moving fom 800x600 to 1024x768 has little impact.
However 16x12 WITH AA/AF it's definitely the GPU, but that's not surprising at that detail level.
So obviously it's both, but it depends on where. Without AA/AF it's definitely CPU limited IMO.
