So, my wife needs a new laptop and we've decided on an ultrabook. We've settled on the Sony Vaio T series.

However, I'm still a little on the fence on whether to get the i5 or the i7. Here are the CPU datas:
Sku cores clock Turbo cache
-3517U 2/4 1.9 GHz 3.0 GHz 4 MB
-3317U 2/4 1.7 GHz 2.6 GHz 3 MB

The i7 comes at a 150$ premium over the i5. My gut says it's not really worth the extra, and won't be noticed; but I'm concerned that these ULV 17W parts may not deliver the power I would expect from their stats.

The laptop will be used primarily for Office tasks (with some rather large documents), with some data analysis, and occasional light gaming (mostly 2d games).
There is the potential for it running some smaller/rare AutoDesk Inventor and/or LabView projects as well; though if it can't handle these, it's ok. (we may need these for the robotics team we volunteer with, but if needed I can use her laptop for programming and she can use mine for Labview/AutoDesk stuff, however the swapping arrangement is less convenient)

Is it worth the extra 150$, or will the extra power not really be needed?
