from what ive heard windows xp cant be copied can it because if you do copy it you have to register it and if the same cd key is put in then it will shut xp down. However someone i know has windows xp but he didnt buy a retail version he had a copied version and it works fine. Howcome???

You can install XP without <b>activate</b> (not <b>register</b>, that the different thing) within 30 days. After that, you have to activate it or it wouldn't be loaded. Another possibility is he used a program to crack activation code so he wouldn't have to activate. Or he could have <b>Corporate version</b> which is not required to activate.

Corporations. They are licensed to use XP with large volumes (250 and more) so that version is not required to activate.
