Toshiba a10-s129 laptop black screen with cursor

xp professional....
black screen with cursor top left hand comes up when computer
when waking up computer from hybernating.....have to turn off computer then turn back on to reboot....
no scroll bar at bottom (anymore) of screen when booting up computer just toshiba splash screen then boots to windows xp......
any help?

Does it boot into windows XP and work fine otherwise (once you restart it)?
