I am seeing an issue with Windows XP (all varients) - when in an active
Dial-up Networking connection, the machine will not automatically enter
standby or hibernate. However, the machine can be *manually* put into these
conditions (Start/Shutdown/Standby or Hibernate), and will automatically go
to standby/hibernate after the DUN connection is disconnected.

Is this a known issue? If so, is there a workaround?

Your answer is in your post. If there is an active connection, the machine
will not standby or hibernate. The system has no way of knowing whether the
connection is needed or not. It will not automatically disconnect unless
configured to do so. There is a "disconnect after x minutes of idle
activity" setting in the DUN connection properties. Once that time limit is
reached, the countdown for standby/hibernate will start.

Sharon, you are awesome! Thanks so much for pointing out the DUN timeout
setting!
