Hey yall, I recently was given 800 from a friend to buy my car audio system. Well this is what im getting with that money.
( i dont know how to make new egg display a non secure list so i just copied and pasted the list)
CPU ACC|ALX-800 HSINK ONLY THR RT $19.99
CPU THERM PAS|ARCTIC CERAMIQUE2.5G% $3.99
MB nForce2|5P1A4D NF7-S V2 ABIT ATX $86.00
DVR|PIONEER DVR-107D DVD+/-RW% $95.00
HD 80GB|WD 7200RPM 8MB WD800JB% $67.00
ACCES FAN|80X25 3/4P THERMALTAKE RT
CPU MOBILE AMD|2500+/266 ATHLON XP% $88.00
DDRAM 512M|PC-3200 991093 MUSHKIN R $87.00
CASE TASK| TK-4730 A-04 BLK/SLV RTL $29.00

NOW MY QUESTION:
As you can see the list is lacking a video card, well with the recent buzz about modding the x800 and the fact that it kicks ass im going to order one. WHO HAS IT IN STOCK RIGHT NOW? and for at or under 399US?

If I were you I'd get a full copper heatsink, like the SLK947U or SP97, because you want to get that CPU as high as you can if you're buying a X800Pro.

You definitely want to go with 1 Gb of RAM, and no less, if you are building a gaming rig, especially with a card like the X800, if you really want to enjoy it...

Well keep in mind i plan on buying this, then spending more on it in about 2 months. In 2 months its getting a second HD, 512 more ram, and hopefully a watercooling setup.
But about this dvd-rw, i have heard such good things about pioneers burners, what i am doing is burning ps2 games. Do i need dual layer for that? And do i need dual layer burning capability to copy EVERY DVD movie?

Hi
Just use dvdshrink to copy dvds. You can compress dual layer to one layer disk ( cutting out some crap as well)

I would think about upgrading your power supply. Focus on the important elements.

power supply
motherboard
p4 ht chip
1 gb ram
sata drive
floppy ( ghost, flash bios )
cd rom or dvd burner
9800 pro is a good bargain at 179$
santa cruz turtle beach soundcard ( non irq hog, good drivers)
And hopefully a 19" or 21" crt moniter.

Asus p4533c 2.53,4x512 1066,40gb system ,240Gb RAID A/V Drive,80 Gb Export,Radeon 9800 Pro,Matrox Rt.X100,Santa Cruz Turtle Beach,Aardvark Aark 20,Ricoh Mp5125a,Samsung 40x cd,Antec w/400,Xp pro

dual layer is not gonna be mainstream for a while. No need to wait for it its like 2x burning for DL discs anyways. Not worth the wait yet

lol the important stuff: ht p4 hah i hope you were being funny intentinally...

well i currently have an AIW 9700 pro.. so no 9800 pro for me.

thanks for the dual layer info, i feel much better lol..

il probably just use my current 9700 until i can get a good r420 for around 400.. is 400Watts not enough for what i want?, no geforce 6800 and only 1 hd and 1 disc drive..

and do you guys know if its possible to take a vhs tape and put it on a dvd? maybe in vcd or divx?

i love this forum :)

Oh and i have heard this new heatsink i got, the alx800 is really really good,
review here:
<A HREF="http://www.overclockercafe.com/Reviews/cooling/ThermalRight_ALX-800/index.htm" target="_new">http://www.overclockercafe.com/Reviews/cooling/ThermalRight_ALX-800/index.htm</A>

it cools to almost sp 97 levels... and i dont think i want to push like 2.6 or 2.7 ghz
I am really just going to try for 2.4-2.5ghz

the fan i got is around 40 cfm, not wonderful, but alot better then "stealth" fans

I'd make a couple changes... get a mobile 2400 not 2500, as you would likely see no difference in OCing. Get a DFI Ultra Infinity, it's better than the NF7. And finally, get an SLK-947U (or SLK-800 or 900 if u can't find one of those cheap enough) and a vantec tornado (80 or 90mm). I'd recommend the sp-97 but they aren't compatable with the DFI boards (not sure about the NF7) without an additional backplate of some kind.

Me: are you saying I can't provide?
Me: cause I know I can provide.
Me: oh and I can provide money too;)
Rachel:): why do we need money when we can just stay in our room and have sex all day?

The 2400 will not OC as good as the 2500.
I chose my fan on its ratings in CFM AND db
That motherboard might get to a FSB of 250 but my cheapo ram, nor my OK cooling will allow for that.
Keep in mind this is also a budgest computer.

You could always buy an <A HREF="http://accessories.gateway.com/AccessoryStore/PC+Accessories_316441/Graphics+_A1_+Video_381951/Graphics+Cards_316685/AGP+Graphics+Cards_316688/2617586_ProdDetail" target="_new">X800XT from Gateway for $435</A>.

They say it ships in 3-4days.

Same reasoning as a P4C 2.6 wont oc as well as a P4C 2.8.

Grape, that link is down, I want to order RIGHT NOW :)
I looked at their site and cant find it.
They have a 980 pro 128mg for over 300!!.. i cant believe they would sell the x800xt for so little in that case.

Can you please find their working link? Thanks so much.

It appears they may have goofed. The link has been down all day. It worked yesterday, but not anymore.

I suspect they pulled it and won't put anything else up until they find out what the exposure they have to lawsuits and claims of false advertising. There may be some archived links out there. Likely the only people who would get one would be people who placed an order while it was active.
