New CROWD Demo for the X800

Just another toy for those like Speed (Ba$tUrd!) to play with.

Everyone else can watch the compressed Video of the demo. Not overly impressive, but interesting just the massive hoard of peoples. "The Peoples, they are Revolting!" "Yes, that's true; just try not to stare, that only makes them more self-concious."

I'm at work, so I'm not sure if it's X800 only (may be usable on older cards just at a glacial pace). I don't think that colourless will feel the same 'NEED' to wrap this like he did Ruby. We ALL NEEDED that one.

Anywhooo, it's on ATI's Developer Demo page;

I kept expecting something to happen. They should have had something like an apache attack helo pop up outa no where, and mow them down.

I dont have an X800 to answer your question. With all of the independant AI action going on, you would think that a high cpu utilization would be in effect here....

LOL!

Exactly! I was watching, going, ok, so they ran from one bunch of holes to another bunch of holes. Oooohh Exciting. I'm sure it's stressful on the cards (and maybe CPU as was mentioned), but really, as demos go it's not very exciting.

It reminds me of watching the Boston Marathon. Except this time I was watching/waiting for the dumbass to trip and fall, and it never happened! Damn!

I also reminds me off the rush to the bathrooms during a Football Half-Time or Hockey Intermission. I can see all those little men saying "shouldn't have drank so much beer, shouldn've drank so much beer! Oh lord lemme make it there in time!"

I would be surprised if it was CPU-Centric, but who knows. Rememeber they are quite linear in their actually running lines, so the drawing would likely be the stress-point. But like you said, I don't have an X800, so I dunno! Maybe Speed can try it CPU OC'd/UnderClocked and VPU OC'd Underclocked and see which affects it most. Now if they bumped into each other, or ran in zigzags avoiding each other that would be a different story.

I assume, it won't run on your R9800FRO like I suspected.

It was pretty cool for 10 seconds or so, then it got pretty boring. I am amazed ATI could find so many little men who can all run at the exact same pace. Amazing.

Could they not write a complex vertex shader program for the peoples movement, like the butterflies in the 3dmark 2001 Nature benchmark?

Me: are you saying I can't provide?
Me: cause I know I can provide.
Me: oh and I can provide money too;)
Rachel:): why do we need money when we can just stay in our room and have sex all day?

Thanks dude.

Interesting discussion, especially mentioning, that they are all running in a row. Hmmm, sounds familiar.

Interesting. No more SM3.0 demos from nV would be nice too!

Gonna try the sushi tweaks tomorrow (just got back from 'dinner', OIE!). I expect single digit FPS.

Are you sure they weren't on their way to 500 Ruby(s)?

That sounds about right!
