it's a hp G series, A8-3520 and 6620G + Dedicated 7450m and firstly, i installed CCC from AMD so it then let me open " configure switchable graphics " so i set my Exe's of my Games, IE Skyrim to " high performance "

So i open Skyrim ( high detail ) on window mode and then open " AMD system monitor " so i can keep an eye on the % usage of both GPU's and ONLY the 6620g is used, 98-100% but the 7450 never kicks in, So then i noticed that Device manager and AMD system monitor says the 7450 as " 7400 series " so i go on to update driver via Device manager and now it shows 7450m yet it still wont kick in! And now it has that flicker at the top :fou:

aha, that could be the problem, i got it of AMD's website and now that ive un-installed CCC the flickering has stopped.

So should i download from HP's website as the laptop never came with a disk.

insttalled the CCC from HP and it's got rid of the flicker but still, the 7450m never gets used! the 6620G is on 100% but the 7450m just stays idle :(

Make sure you purge the old graphics driver completely before installing the one provided by HP. It installs separate drivers for both the integrated and discrete graphics and a mismatch won't work.

tried that, still the same.

when runnign 3Dmark the 7450m does then work at 100% with the 6220G but any game the 6620G is on 100% and the 7450m just idle as usual!

As in Catalyst? There's Engine CC which i have enabled Crossfire and chosen my exe on high performance but ive been trying to find a way to just use the 7450m as i don't see the point in the laptop using the 6620G on 20FPS when it could use more power for high FPS :fou:

FINALLY! i just thought i'd post how i fixed this as i myself have been searching this forum and google since friday, so just incase anyone comes across this topic they'll know what to do.

Played around and thought i'd see what " fixed " switchable graphics does in the Bios instead of dynamic, right click on desktop t go to Graphic Properties and there it is, the option to use either the Intergrated or the Dedicated for everything and now finally im getting 30+FPS on skyrim :D

Good find, I'll keep that in mind when this problem comes up again
