My pc's specs are
3.2ghz
1gb 4x 256 dual channelled pc4000 ram
ge-cube radeon 9800 pro 128mg

Playing far cry on the maximum settings, i get a large amoutn of lag. not all the time, but when it is lagging it's pretty bad.

My mates radeon 9600xt performs alot better, ZERO lag and on the highest settings. I'm beginning to think it's the ram? his has 256 mine has 128. But shoudln't the 9800 pro slaughter the 600xt?

please any help would be appreciated.

But on my mates 9600 there is zer lag throughtout the whoel game. For me, walkign througha jungle is a laggy experiance.

Was your old card a Nv one? If so google for a driver cleaner and use it! Reinstal the Cat drivers and then enjoy FarCary with no lag at all. The 256Mb of your friends 9600Xt make no diference. Those cards aren't able to use the extra memory...

P4-2800->FSB800, Asus P4P800, 512DDR-400, Radeon 9800 Pro - 128Mb

The comp is new, the pro is the only card ever installed on it :( i've got latest cat drivers. Umm, i cna;t think why it's lagging, i got 6023 in 3d mark 2003.

I dont know if it's related, but my computer thinks i have two radeon 9800's installed...and on top of that two 3.2ghz processors *shrugs*

The 9800 PRO should slaughter the 9600XT, the amount of RAM should have no effect.

Are you running with antialiassing enabled?

Yeah i am. But on low i think. But so is my mate. we have all our settings exact same.

Could the fact the computer thinks i have two radeon 9800's instaleld effect performance??

Go into device manage and then display adapters. Are there any errors in there, such as "Not enough resources"? I had this problem with a ATI 9200 where I was getting very poor performance and I had to flash BIOS and change a setting in there. But after that the card worked fine with no errors in the Device Manager.

We have set ours to exact same settings, same drivers everything yet his pretty much kills mine in performance.

Also i uninstalled the second 3d card my comp think it has, and it reinstalled it again "Radeon9800 pro - secondary"

*shrugs*
