Definition of shared memory is that it's being shared. In this case, the graphics doesn't actually have memory of it's own, and in fact it leeches 64MB from the systems memory.

In short, it sucks, literally. There'd be no point of increasing it to 128MB, firstly because the graphics chip will be your bottleneck, 128MB won't make a difference. And second, you'll be reducing the amount of system memory the notebook needs, further reducing performance by increasing disk caching.

I'm sorry  .

You can upgrade to get more system memory to offset the reduction, but as stated, it's useless since it won't do much of anything to improve performance. System memory is much slower than real video memory too y'see. So in short, your video will not get faster.

But if you still insist, goto your BIOS and adjust the shared memory to the highest value possible. The only way to get even higher values is through a BIOS update, and I doubt there's one that has that. Maybe HP/Compaq might make one for you for a couple hundred   .

There is no decent solution for this problem either  . Your best bet would be to sell it off, and get a better notebook. Research well this time, and ask folks here for advice before you splurge.
