scottchen is right ... eerr ... and why would you go with a mid-tower case? Go full tower. What is your power supply? And 6800 Ultra is US$499...

The only reason why i would get the K8V would be the deluxe version for its features. If you're into overclocking at all, the Asus board wouldn't be ideal, just because VIA chipset, you won't be able to OC at all, most reviewers said they had trouble breaking 210mhz on that board.

If i cant oc on that board then i am going with the other option.
Since i cant get msi from my retailler what about this one <A HREF="http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/socket754/k8n-e_d/overview.htm" target="_new">http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/socket754/k8n-e_d/overview.htm</A>
Athlon 2700xp+ (oc: 3200xp+ with 200fsb)
Radeon 9800pro (oc: 410/360)
1024mb pc3200 (5-3-3-2)
Asus A7N8X-X<P ID="edit"><FONT SIZE=-1><EM>Edited by coylter on 06/06/04 04:51 PM.</EM></FONT></P>
If you're doing any kind of OC then a Nforce board would be ideal. You can get a Chaintech VNF3-250 off of Ebay for 99US, it's a nice board, capable of hitting 240mhz with 4xHT, and they'll hit 400 with 2x.
What is the overclocking potential of the a64 with stock cooling?
Would a aero 7+ be better than the stock cooler?
Can i see any review of an overclocked a64?

I have personally never seen any comparison with overclocked 3200+, only 3000+. With stockcooling, you can run at 1.7Vcore no problem, which probably gets you to about 2.4Ghz, but that's depending on luck.
For a cheap and easy to install heatsink i recommend the Thermaltake Venus 12
For expensive and hard to install heatsink i recommend Thermalright SLK948U with 92mm fan that has a good 60CFM rating on it.

Could you link to some numbers, please?

Fortron Source power supplies are rated at 70% of peak load, and the 530W unit is tested at 600W continuous load, this information is/was available at retailers such as newegg and holds true when you read reviews of various Fortron Source power supplies at sites that actually test their maximum capabilities (such as Toms).

That hurts, especially considering the mean time between failures for FSP power supplies is usually listed at 11 years continuous (give or take a few hours). But hey, they also make Sparkle Power and some Aopen power supplies, the models with FSP-whatever model names. And they're the base units for some PC Power&Cooling units, as well as Zalman (these companies modify them for lower noise or appearence purposes).

I guess I'll get it from newegg.com then. Thanks, Crashman. You rule!
