Is you are using Active Directory you have to use group policy settings.

Check for malware that may be imitating group policy.

I'm not sure how to check if my firewall is set on automatic. Here's what I
know: Under the advanced tab the firewall is set to enable both my Internet
and network connections. ICS is working on both my other computers. I don't
know where to find the automatic setting you mention. If you tell me how to
find it, I'll check.

By malware, I assume you mean some unwanted program that is taking over some
process in my computer. Is that right? I had just done a thorough virus and
spyware scan prior to downloading SP2. There was infection there as I had
disabled my XP Home firewall in an effort to get my 2 clients to be able to
share from my server. I don't want to operate w/o a firewall. Does that
answer your question? Everything found was deleted or cleaned.

Does that mean my firewall is actually on even though it says it's off?

So maybe I don't actually have a problem?
