First off I would like to say that I am a 16 year old working a minimum wadge summer job. So money is a big issue in choosing the right graphics card for me. I want to play next genration games like Everquest 2 ect... I was looking at Evga Geforce fx 5700 Ultra using DDR 2 memory/Gigabyte Radeon 9600 xt. Both are priced between 150-170 I believe. I have looked at alot of Reviews and Benchmarks but I would like to know which card offers the best realtime preformance in games. In the case of Everquest 2 which uses alot of shadows ect, I have began to lean more towards Nvidia. Please any opinions on realtime preformance of these cards would be great. Btw both have 128mb. Thanks

well eq2 is comming out in septembber at the earliest, so you can wait a while. Your BEST bet by far would be to try to score a cheap 9800 pro, you should be able to find one around the 180-200 range. You will need atleast that for eq2

Computer specs: AMD Athlon xp 2500+ Barton core,Biostar M7NCD pro, 40 gig Western Digital hd 7200 rpm, 1 gig Kingston Hyper x DDR 333 (pc 2700), 400 watt antec true blue ps, graphics card?, sound card? This computer is in the making. I also plan to Overclock the cpu abit. Also 200 bucks or so would be my max spending if I really need it. I was looking at or around 170ish but I really want to play eq 2, farcry ect...

9800 pro is probably the best value card right now.

Wait till you can afford a 9800 PRO. If you can't wait, get a 9600XT, or better yet... get a used 9700 PRO on ebay!

yeah, I'd go for a 9800Pro, I think you'd be happier.
